Investigations

Friday 12th July 2019

Over the last couple of weeks we have been learning to answer problem solving investigations developing our understanding of trial and error. Today we had the problem:

There are three baskets, a brown one, a red one and a pink one, holding a total of ten eggs.

The Brown basket has one more egg in it than the Red basket.

The Red basket has three fewer eggs than the Pink basket.

How many eggs are in each basket?

The children worked in small groups to find the answer. Some groups drew pictures to help them while others used cubes.
