PSHE

We have been learning about the British Value 'democracy' because we have had a new Prime Minister following the General Election. We discussed the process of an election and then how we are a democracy, meaning everyone gets the right to vote.

Further to our learning on mental and physical health, this week we focused specifically on the importance of sleep and rest. We talked about different mindfulness activities that we could do in order to feel calm and discussed how important it is to get rest. We learnt more about how being tired affects our moods and our bodies. Remember to get at least 10 hours sleep tonight everyone!

For our second lesson, we have taken part in an experiment to see how sugar affects the teeth! We discussed good oral health and positive routines for brushing our teeth. We also learnt more about the importance of visiting the dentist and not eating too many sugary snacks or drinking fizzy drinks. We are now putting our knowledge to the test to see whether our experiment will confirm what we know. We are studying the impact cola, milk, energy drinks, water and orange juice will have on the egg shells, which we are using to represent our tooth enamel!
