Parent Code of Conduct

At St. Luke’s C of E (A) Primary School, we are very proud of our warm, supportive school community. We know that children flourish best when parents, carers and school staff work closely together, and we are grateful for the strong partnerships we enjoy with our families.

Parent Carer Communication and …

To help us maintain a safe, positive and respectful environment for everyone, we have a Parent/Carer Communication and Conduct Policy (2025–2028). This sets out how we will communicate with one another and the standards of behaviour we expect from all adults on our school site and in their contact with staff.

How to contact school

If you need to get in touch, you can:

  • Telephone the school office on 01909 475821

  • Email office@st-lukes.notts.sch.uk

The office team will make sure your query is passed to the most appropriate member of staff.

  • Non-urgent enquiries – we aim to respond within five working days.

  • Urgent matters – these will usually be passed to a member of the Senior Leadership Team, who will aim to respond the same working day or within 24 hours, or let you know if more time is needed.

To support staff wellbeing, we ask that parents and carers avoid sending repeated emails on the same issue and understand that staff are encouraged to reply within normal working hours and not beyond 6pm.

Working together respectfully

We ask all parents, carers and visitors to:

  • Treat staff, pupils and other families with courtesy and respect

  • Support the Christian ethos and values of our school

  • Speak to us directly if you have a concern, so we can resolve it together

  • Model calm, considerate behaviour and language in front of children

  • Help us by addressing their own child’s behaviour when needed

In order to keep our school a safe and welcoming place for everyone, we cannot accept behaviour such as:

  • Shouting, swearing or using aggressive, offensive or intimidating language

  • Threatening behaviour or physical aggression towards any member of the school community

  • Abusive or threatening emails, phone messages, texts or online comments

  • Defamatory statements, rumours or attempts to incite negativity or hostility towards the school or individual staff members

  • Speaking negatively about staff to other parents in a way that attempts to damage a person’s character or undermine the school

  • Damage to school property

  • Approaching another person’s child to reprimand or challenge them

We take these matters seriously. Where behaviour of this kind occurs, the school may contact appropriate authorities and, if necessary, ban individuals from the school site to protect the safety and wellbeing of pupils, staff and families.

Our commitment

We are committed to:

  • Treating parents, carers and visitors with respect

  • Responding to concerns in a fair, timely and proportionate way

  • Keeping careful records of incidents and, where needed, carrying out risk assessments to safeguard our community

We are very fortunate to have such dedicated, supportive parents and carers at St Luke’s, and we believe this policy helps ensure that everyone can continue to feel safe, valued and able to FLOURISH as part of our school family.
