On this page, you will be able to find out more about what we teach in Maths and how we teach it at St Luke's. This year, we have decided as a school to follow the White Rose Scheme to continue develop our approach to Mastery, which enables us to promote a creative and enjoyable curriculum. You will be able to access the Maths Policy, Calculation Policy, Long Term Overview and the Maths Ready to Progress Document.
Our school vision is:
'Let your light shine, live life to the full, respect and care for all, create a happy and safe world for everyone.'
In Maths we aim to produce confident and resilient mathematicians who know and understand the purpose, relevance and importance of Maths in their everyday life, making sense of the world around us. A high-quality mathematical education provides the children with the appreciation for the power of mathematics, the ability to reason mathematically and solve real life problems.
The Mathematics Policy outlines the teaching and learning. It will give you an insight and understanding of how mathematics is planned, taught and learned at St Luke's.
The Calculation Policy explains the written methods that are taught in school from Foundation Stage 2 to Year 6.
This document is the Long Term Overview for every year group. It is split into year groups from FS2 - Year 6. It briefly explains which topics are being taught throughout the year and when they are being taught.
The Ready to Progress criteria is part of the Mathematics guidance by the Department for Education. It explains the key learning objectives for each year and how learning progresses from Year 1 - Year 6.
