Welcome to Elmton Class!

I’m so excited to welcome the children to Year 1! I know we have an exciting and successful year ahead, filled with lots of wonderful learning opportunities. I’ll be supported in class by Mrs Butterfield, and we are both looking forward to helping the children learn, grow and flourish throughout the year.

PE Days and Kit

Our PE days are Mondays and Fridays. Please ensure that your child comes to school with the appropriate PE kit and suitable footwear on these days. For safety reasons, children must not wear earrings during PE. If your child cannot remove their earrings independently, please ensure they are removed or covered before coming to school.

Learning and Communication

You can find key information about what your child will be learning this year in our Learning Overview. We will also send home half-termly newsletters containing further information about our learning, homework, PE and important dates.

Learning at Home

Reading regularly at home is one of the best ways to support your child’s learning in Year 1. Please aim to read with your child at least three times each week and record this in their reading diary. Weekly spellings and homework will also be sent home to help children practise and build upon the skills they have learned in class. Thank you for your continued support.
