Today we learnt about the structure of a plant and studied the roots, leaves, stem and flower alongside what each of their purposes are for growth and plant survival. To cement our understanding, we went outside and had a look at the wonderful flowers that have now grown along the path and discussed which elements of the plant we could see. We learnt more about plant survival and applied this knowledge to our outside trip!
This week, we have been learning about what plants need in order to grow and survive. We have started an experiment where we are going to be growing our own plants. We made predictions about what might happen, discussed the aim of the experiment and wrote about the method we would use. We will now be monitoring our plants over the next couple of weeks in order to see how they grow and whether they have had enough sunlight, water and temperature.
