15th September 2023

Homework Due- Wednesday 20th September 2023.

Hello Welbeck Class, Parents and Carers,

We have had a busy week in Welbeck Class and have started settle in to the new class routine. Lots of our children have been very helpful with the new starters and have been helping staff around school.

Homework

Read and re-write the extract to ensure that the correct punctuation is used.

Reading Diaries

Reading books and diaries should be handed in at the start of each day. Children should be reading at least three days a week and an adult should be recording this in their diary.

Spellings

This weeks spellings are: accommodate, available, competition, determined, existence, identity, muscle, prejudice, rhyme, suggest. Spellings will be tested on a Friday. The children have come home with their Spelling Shed password today.

Windrush Child

This half term our book study is Windrush Child, this is a book on the year 6 curriculum and follows our history topic 'Migration to Britain'. This book details the story of a child moving from Jamaica to Britain in the 1950's/1960's and how he struggles to adapt to the change. The book does contain some language that some people may find offensive, but this language may have been commonly used during this time period and it is important to show how language has changed and how important it is to be inclusive to all. If you have any questions about this, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Have a wonderful weekend,

Miss Tomlinson
