This week, we have read a lovely book called 'Happy in our Skin' and have been celebrating the uniqueness of each individual and how they are special. We are studying the features of a newspaper report too and have been learning about headlines, the 5 Ws and pictures with captions! We will be working together over the next few weeks to plan and write our own newspaper reports with our friends. 

We continue to develop our understanding of newspaper reports and have been planning our own in groups. We have been thinking carefully about our headlines and the content of our articles, researching and creating relevant information to build our articles and ensure we are including all of the different features. 

This week, we have started studying our focus text - 'The Proudest Blue' and have learnt a lot about Faizah and Asiya, two sisters who go to the same school. We discussed unfamiliar vocabulary, such as 'hijab' and made some predictions about the text before reading. We have been looking at different diary entries and have discussed the features of these. We will be writing our own diary entries next week! 

We have been writing our own diary entries this week after studying the features of a diary entry. We discussed events that had happened in the past and how to write in the past tense. We have also been learning about expanded noun phrases and how to add more detail to our work using adjectives to describe.
