Week beginning 5th October
Maths
In Maths this week we have been learning to order fractions in ascending order. We have used Cuisenaire Rods to help us identify the value of fractions, learn about proper and improper fractions and to identify decimals.
English
In English we have been learning to write harvest poems. We have thought about autumn and harvest and have used adjectives and similes to describe these things. We have then written some fantastic rhyming poems.
Science
In Science we have been learning about human intervention in DNA and what we can do to ensure animals do not become extinct in the future. We then spoke about cross breeding and thought of positives and negatives for this. As a class we had a fantastic debate, sharing our opinions on cross breeding and human intervention. The children then designed a new animal- mixing two animals together. They created some very interesting and unique creatures.
