Welbeck Class

Dear Children and Parents,

Welcome back to Welbeck class, I hope you are all looking forward to this next academic year. My name is Miss Tomlinson and I will be Welbeck class teacher for the next year. As well as myself, Mrs Cushing, Mrs Green and Mrs Dilks will be working with children in our class during the week.

Our first topic will be Dinosaurs and Fossils where we will learn about the life of a palaeontologist and how fossils are formed.  We have lots of creative activities planned which I hope the children will enjoy.

As well as Dinosaurs and Fossils, we will be learning about a wide range of topics this year including World War 2, Ancient Egypt, Harry Potter, The Amazing Americas and The Seaside. Each topic will have a learning overview that will be shared with parents.

PE will be taught on a Wednesday and Thursday. Some PE lessons will be outdoors so the children should bring appropriate clothing and footwear to all lessons.

Homework will be given on a Friday and collected on a Wednesday. The homework will be based on what we have been learning that week or researching the next week’s topic. Spelling homework will also be given in spelling books. Spellings will be tested on a Friday. If you or your child have any queries about the homework please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please read aloud with your child at least three times a week and record this in their diary. Reading books will be changed on a Monday and stamps will be given to those children who have read the required amount. An exciting reward will take place in June for those children who have achieved the required number of reads.

Please can I ask for pencil cases to be left at home for this next academic year so that this limits any risk of belongings being lost or damaged. All equipment needed will be provided by school.

Again, please feel free to contact me if you or your child has any worries in the next year.

Miss L. Tomlinson
