Hello Welbeck, Parents and Carers,

World Book Day is fast approaching. Our school council are currently organising a book swap to take place on Thursday 2nd March 2023. If you have any books at home that you are able to donate please let me know. On the day, children will be invited to wear pyjamas as our theme will be 'bedtime stories.' If you have any additional questions please let me know. 

Homework

Children have been given a photocopy of a chapter of our class book 'War Horse'. They must read through the chapter before answering the comprehension questions.

Times Tables

It has been noticed in our Maths lessons that we are still finding some of our times tables tricky. It is important that by Easter the children are confident at recalling the times tables up to 12 x 12. Please continue to encourage your child to practise their times tables especially the 6, 7 and 8's. 

Reading

Reading diaries and books should be brought into school on a daily basis. Please continue to encourage your children to read at least three times a week at home. 

Spellings

This weeks spellings are: shoulder, smoulder, mould, thrown, known, blown, window, shallow, soul, poultry. 

SATs

Some parents have asked about the dates for the SATs tests. These tests are due to take place between Tuesday 9th May-Friday 12th May. Further information will be shared closer to the time. 

Booster Club

Starting next Wednesday (8th) a maths booster club will be taking place after school. If you would like your child to attend please let me know. It would be beneficial if children are able to bring a ringbinder folder to this session. 

Swimming

Wednesday 8th February will be the children's last swimming session. After half term they will need to continue to wear their PE kits on a Wednesday.
