Hello Welbeck Class, Parents and Carers,

World Book Day- Thursday 2nd March

Our theme for World Book Day is bedtime stories. Children are invited to wear their pyjamas on this day and bring in their favourite book. School council are organising a book swap. If you have any books at home that you are able to donate please let me know. 

Homework

Children have been given a photocopy of a chapter of our class book 'War Horse'. They must read through the chapter before answering the comprehension questions. Note that the hand in date for this homework has been extended to Friday 24th February. 

The children have also been given a maths activity to complete. 

Times Tables

It has been noticed in our Maths lessons that we are still finding some of our times tables tricky. It is important that by Easter the children are confident at recalling the times tables up to 12 x 12. Please continue to encourage your child to practise their times tables especially the 6, 7 and 8's. 

Reading

Reading diaries and books should be brought into school on a daily basis. Please continue to encourage your children to read at least three times a week at home. 

Spellings

This weeks spellings are: prejudice, nuisance, hindrance, sacrifice, cemetery, certificate, celebrate, necessary, deceased, December.

SATs

Some parents have asked about the dates for the SATs tests. These tests are due to take place between Tuesday 9th May-Friday 12th May. Further information will be shared closer to the time. 

Booster Club

Booster club will continue after half term. The first Wednesday back will be parent/ carer consultation evening so the club will not be able to do ahead. Our first session back will be Wednesday 1st March.

Swimming

There will be no swimming after half term. Our P.E. days will be Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Please ensure that your child is wearing appropriate P.E kit on those days. Our first P.E. lesson back after half term will be Tuesday 21st February.

Acorn Theatre Auditions

Your child will have brought home a script to learn. Please encourage them to practise over half term. The auditions will take place on Tuesday 21st February.

Parent/ Carer Consultation Evenings

These will take place on Tuesday 21st February and Wednesday 22nd February. You should have already received a booking link over Parentmail. It would be lovely to see as many grown-ups as possible on those days as this will be the last formal parents evening before the children move to secondary school. If you are unable to attend the parents/ carers evening but would like an alternative appointment please let me know. 

Leavers Hoodies

Mrs Stuart is organising leavers hoodies for the children. If you would like your child to have a hoody you will need to contact her either on the playground or over email (I will be able to send you this over Marvellous Me). Hoodies are priced at £25 and payment would need to be paid by 13th March 2023. Please contact Mrs Stuart with your child's name, size and colour if you would like to order.
