Year 2

This week, we have been focusing on the key question 'what do animals, including humans, need to survive?' and we have learnt about how all animals need air, food and water. We discussed in more detail how oxygen is used by the human body too. We thought carefully about how different animals would require different things, for example household pets will need attention, love and shelter, whereas wild animals need space, territory and protection from poachers.

We continued to develop our knowledge of animal survival this week by focusing on one animal each. We used sources such as books and the internet to research information about what our chosen animal needs for survival. We needed to apply our reading retrieval skills too in order to be successful in this lesson! We discussed the diet of different animals, the threat from predators and the climate they need to be in so that they can thrive.
