Maths

This week, we have been focusing on our understanding of number and place value. We counted to 100 in 10s and discussed what we noticed about these multiples of 10. We then moved on to identifying the number of tens and ones in a range of two-digit numbers and then partitioned a range of numbers in different ways. We have been using the base 10 resources to help us, as well as cubes to add a visual element to our learning.

This week, we have been learning how to partition numbers in a range of different ways and using different representations, such as the part-whole model. We have also studied number lines and thought carefully about how to show numbers on a number line, using intervals of 10 each time. A super week of learning, well done!

We have extended our understanding of representing numbers on a number line this week by adding in smaller intervals, such as 1s or 5s. We then moved on to comparing groups of objects, using ourselves as models to demonstrate this! We have also been comparing numbers in numerical form using the less than, more than and equal signs. We have been able to apply our place value knowledge to this new learning and know how important it is to be able to read and write numbers to 100 accurately.

We have been counting in 2s, 5s, 10s and 3s this week! You can practise this at home using Times Tables Rockstars or by counting objects. We then moved on to our addition and subtraction learning, focusing on number bonds to 10 and 20 and looking at fact families. Remember, a good understanding of place value will really help as we move forward to addition and subtraction smiley

This week, we have been adding numbers together! We have been finding one more and one less than a given number and we then moved on to adding three one-digit numbers together. Each week we continue to practise our number formation, arithmetic and place value knowledge. Please keep practising this at home too!
