English

For the next few weeks, our focus is going to be on non-fiction texts like the one below! We are going to be writing our own non-fiction pages about an animal and putting them together to create our own class fact file :)

In order to create our fact files, we studied the features that we would need to include. We researched an animal and found some factual information about it. We then added illustrations to our writing and created a book of fact files, similiar to the Big Book of Beasts! This book inspired us to create the BBOBT - a tournament we have been taking part in in our animal groups in order to win points and prizes. Well done to the sloths who won the tournament!

We used our new focus text to gain some excellent information on a range of different animals!

We have been working hard over the past couple of weeks, learning more about different animals that are important parts of the ecosystem. We have been looking at the narrative story structure again, grouping information that we might find at the beginning, middle and end of a story. We have then used this to plan our own narrative stories from the perspective of an animal. We will be completing our Gold Writes next to show what we have learnt over the course of this topic smiley

In grammar, we have been studying different suffixes - '-less' and '-ness' as well as differentiating  between commands, statements, questions and exclamations.
