We really enjoyed our live science lesson this morning. We saw a sheep being sheared and then watched the process of how wool is turned into yarn. During part of the lesson, we listened to an interview with a firefighter who told us that part of her uniform was made out of wool because it is a thermal conductor. Our final part of the lesson was based on the question 'how is wool helped to grow seaweed?'. We learnt that wool rope is used to help grow kelp, which is then planted on the sea bed to become a habitat for other animals. Wool rope can disintegrate in 3-4 months so does not damage the environment. The children in Welbeck really enjoyed the lesson and were excited that their question was read out during the streaming of the lesson.
