Week beginning 20/7/20

Hello Rufford Class,

I can't believe we have reached the last week of term. I have really enjoyed teaching you all and we have had so many fun memories in class! You have worked extremely hard at home over the last couple of months and I am very proud of you all. Well done!

Over the holidays, remember to relax and have lots of fun while keeping safe with your family and friends. I hope you all have a wonderful summer!  While we are off, have a look on the website at the Summer Reading Challenge under the Gallery section. Here there will be a range of different reading activities for you to try and we would love to see pictures!

Tasks for the week:

Active Learn - Bug Club

On Active Learn, the children can assess games relating to Maths, Science, Grammar and Spellings, as well as Reading. All children also have access to reading books on their book band level. Individual login's have been sent through MarvellousMe as well as the link to the login page, which can also be found here:

Oak National Academy:

Similar to White Rose Maths, Oak National Academy have designed an online classroom where they are uploading a range of lessons each week tailored towards the year 2 curriculum. These include 5 English and Maths lessons and a range of foundation subjects including Science, History and Modern Foreign Languages.  This may be a resource that you would like to use at home throughout the next couple of weeks.

BBC Bitesize:

BBC Bitesize have created daily lessons for the children to do which follow the Year 2 curriculum. They include daily maths and English lessons and 1 topic lesson.

Weekly writing tasks:

This week I would like you to write a story based on this picture.

Think about:

  • Where could this picture be set? What can you see from this place? What are you looking at?
  • Why are you here?
  • Give this picture a new title. Explain your choices and persuade others that yours is the best title.
  • Write about the adventures that you would have here.

Weekly writing task:

Please practise putting these words into sentences.
