We have had a fantastic day at Conisbrough castle! We took part in a workshop called 'Meet the Medievals' and the children learnt about how the castle was built 850 years ago. The children enjoyed hearing the story of Lord Hamelin and Lady Isabelle who were the people who had Conisbrough castle built. The children also had the opportunity to hear about the different workers in the castle and had lots of fun dressing up.
The children then explored the castle walls before entering the Keep. We climbed many stairs to reach the top of the castle and the children were amazed at how far they could see. The children started to get a good understanding of what life would have been like in the medieval times.
I was extremely impressed with how the children behaved during our trip and listened carefully to all of the information they were being told. The staff at Conisbrough castle were extremely impressed with the answers the children were giving to their questions and said that they were a credit to the school.
Well done children!
