Hello Welbeck Class, Parents and Carers,

Homework- This week continue to read the next two chapters of Goodnight Mister Tom and answer the comprehension questions. 

Times Tables- We are continuing with our weekly times tables mini assessment and I am pleased with how well the children are progressing. Please continue to encourage them to use Times Tables Rockstars on a weekly basis. 

Reading- Please continue to encourage your child to read to an adult at least three times a week. Reading diaries are checked on a Monday and books can be changed then. Please ensure that your child is bringing their reading diary and school book to school on a daily basis. Recently, I have seen a decline in the amount of children bringing in their diaries each week and the amount of reading that they are doing. Reading is a key area of focus in year 6,  not just their ability to read words on the page but have an understanding of the text, vocabulary and be able to answer inference questions. If you have any questions about reading or would like further information on how to support your child's reading please do not hesitate to contact me.
