Clumber

Science Day

For our Science Day, we studied the scientist Jane Goodall. We learnt about her life, her work and her love for chimpanzees. We watched videos of how she studied chimpanzees in Tanzania using an ethogram. After, we became scientists and used an ethogram to record the characteristics and behaviours of a chimpanzee called Somebody.

The children also completed two science experiments throughout the day. We investigated materials in the classroom to see which materials reflected and which materials didn't reflect. We made predictions and completed the experiment 3 times to ensure it was a fair test. For our second experiment, we completed an egg drop challenge. The children used a range of materials to create a protective layer around an egg to see if they could prevent it from cracking.

Clumber Class really enjoyed science day, especially learning about Jane Goodall and her work.
