Week beginning 9th November

Wow! What a fantastic week we have had! I have been blown away by the work the children have completed over the week. I am so proud of all the children in Welbeck Class- well done children!

Maths

This week we have been refreshing our memory on how to use the grid method for multiplication and the bus stop method for division. We have started lo learn how to use the long division method, which is extremely tricky. Over the next week we are going to continue to learn the long division method so that we all feel confident with the different steps.

English

We marked Remembrance Day by thinking about what life was like for those involved in the war and thought about what the poppy and two minutes silent represents. The children then wrote poems based on Remembrance Day, with many children focusing on telling the story of a soldier at war. The poems were beautifully written and the children presented them ready for display.

Science

This week in Science we have continued to learn about the digestive system. We focused on the different food groups and the children thought about which foods are easier or harder to digest.

Art

This week we decided to create some artwork based on Remembrance Day. We used photographs to create a water colour painting. We cut the photograph into pieces and painted the other half of it. I have been blown away by the children's work and I know that they are proud of the artwork they have created.
