English

In Engligh today, we are going to be looking at using subordinating conjunctions to help extend the sentences we are writing.

Firstly, have a look at the pictures and think about how you would describe the settings. For each picture, I would like you to write a short description making sure that each sentence contains a subordinating conjunction to help add detail. Have a look at the example below.

The light came streaming through the window even though in the corners it remained dark and mysterious. In the centre of the abbey, the wood was faded because of the constant light hitting it. Towards the edges, I could see how grand the pews used to be although clearly nothing had been cleaned in some years.

Computing

In computing we will be continuing to think about Internet safety, have a look at the PowerPoint, which will explain how we can tell if a website we are using is safe.

After looking at this, choose three or four of your favourite websites and go and have a look to see if you can find the safety symbols. Make a note of which sites are safe and secure and which are not.

RE

Today, I would like you to read Psalm 8 from the Bible:

Psalm 8:

 Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!
You have set your glory
    in the heavens.

Through the praise of children and infants
you have established a stronghold against your enemies,
to silence the foe and the avenger.

 When I consider your heavens,
    the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place,

what is mankind that you are mindful of them,
human beings that you care for them
?
You have made them a little lower than the angels
and crowned them with glory and honor.
 You made them rulers over the works of your hands;
    you put everything under
their feet:
 all flocks and herds,
and the animals of the wild,

the birds in the sky,
and the fish in the sea,
all that swim the paths of the seas.

 Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!

After reading this, think about what it means and answer the following questions:

1. What do you think this is telling us about the relationship between God and Humans?

2. Who is in charge of looking after the  Earth?

3. How important are Humans on Earth?

4. How does this link to out learning about the differences between religion and science?
