Take a look at Tommy's excellent writing:
I marched up the stairs, to the Jarvis family to collect rent. I knocked on the door but there was no answer so I barged it open. I got very angry when they didn’t pay rent because SHE had no money, yet they were eating a lovely big pie. I lifted the rags of Mrs Jarvis who was sleeping and demanded the rent. The little boy said that he had spent the last of the money on the pie. They pleaded for a little longer to pay but I decided to evict them. I may be cruel and I may be out of fashion, but a man needs money. I watched them go out of the door with their belongings. I felt happy that the new family of eight were coming and that they would be able to pay me rent.
