# Week beginning 8th March

## Hello and welcome back!

Today's tasks are on Purple Mash. There are lots of fun activities for children to complete. Here is also a link for mindfulness activities which we will be completing some of today https://www.waterford.org/resources/mindfulnes-activities-for-kids/

## Tuesday

In Maths today we are looking at 3D shapes. I would like you to complete a tally chart of 3D shapes you can see around your house. I would like you to complete the mental arithmetic. Then, I would like you to watch this song about 3d shapes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=guNdJ5MtX1A. Look at the powerpoint and make 3D shapes with the nets attached. You need some glue.

In topic today we are focusing on pirate ship designs. On Purple Mash, there is a 2do for you to design your own pirate flag for your ship!

In Literacy, we are focusing on using adjectives. I would like you to complete the activities on the PowerPoint.

In Art, we are focusing on drawing pirate ships. I would like you to research some inspiration and draw your very own pirate ship.

## Thursday

In Literacy we are going to start learning about Peter Pan. For our Big Write today, I would like you to imagine you  are going to Never Land. There is a picture below. What does Never Land look like to you? We know it's a magical place, but what makes it so magical? Complete a description of Never Land and what you might find there, for example, mermaids.

In Maths, we are looking at identifying the faces of a 3D shape. Watch the video below and complete the sheet. You can also complete the extension task too if you'd like.  You need to search around your house, identify the 3D shapes and count the faces they have. https://vimeo.com/508435282

In Computing, we are going to explore 2sequence. We are going to be looking at creating sounds over the next couple of weeks. I would like you to experiment the sounds and create a sequence for which I can listen to. You can use a variety of instruments.

For spellings, I would like you to practise putting the words into sentences.

## Friday

In Literacy today, we are looking at describing Peter Pan using adjectives and similes. I would like you to create a word bank of all the similes and adjectives you can think of to describe Peter Pan. I would first like you to look at the PowerPoint and complete the activities. Then I would like you to complete the sheet where you need to use adjectives and similes to describe Peter Pan.

In EGPS today, we are looking at using adjectives. I would like you to identify the adjectives on the cave man sheet. I would then like you to complete the activities on the second sheet.

In topic today, we are going to be completing a pirate drawing tutorial. I would like you to follow the steps from the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mvYF2qEiNMI

For golden time, I would like you to complete an activity that is relaxing for you. For example, drawing, painting, making a den and watching a film.
