This week we have started our place value topic. We have started to develop our understanding of mathematical vocabulary and understand how to represent five digit numbers with counters.
At the start of the week we read an extract from a mystery story called 'Beetle Boy.' We answered comprehension questions about the story and then started to plan our own mystery stories. We thought about the characters that we might find in a mystery and the different story settings. On Friday we wrote our own mystery stories.
We have started our inheritance topic. We spoke briefly about what the word inheritance means and we discussed how offspring can inherit qualities off of their parents. We discussed the issue of animals becoming endangered and we started to explore ways in which we can help to ensure more animals do not become endangered.
