Rufford Class - Year 1 and Year 2
Dear Children and Parents,
Welcome back to Rufford class, I hope you are all looking forward to this next academic year. My name is Miss Tomlinson and I will be Rufford class teacher for the next year. As well as myself, Mrs Green and Mrs Batters will be working with children in our class during the week.
Our first topic will be the Seaside where we will learn about the geographical locations of popular holidays and how holidays have changed over time. We have lots of creative activities planned which I hope the children will enjoy.
As well as the Seaside, we will be learning about a wide range of topics this year including Castles, Fairy tales and Dragons, Pirates, The World War and Toys. Each topic will have a learning overview that will be shared with parents.
PE will be taught on a Tuesday and Wednesday. Some PE lessons will be outdoors so the children should bring appropriate clothing and footwear to all lessons.
Every Monday I will pick a tree team to take part in ‘show and tell’ where the children are able to bring something in from home to show on a Friday. Please can I ask that children refrain from bringing their toys into school unless they have been asked to do so. We do have some toys, pencil cases and drinks bottles left in the classroom from last term. If you think these could belong to your child please collect them in the next week.
Homework will be given on a Friday and collected on a Wednesday. The homework will be based on what we have been learning that week or researching the next week’s topic. Spellings will also be given. If you or your child have any queries about the homework please do not hesitate to contact me.
To save confusion or loss of possessions please label your children’s belongings as I understand they can be very expensive to replace.
