This week we are focusing on prayer. Take a look at the PowerPoint below.
This week in Maths we have been learning to understand algebra. We started the week with a guess the number activity and we looked at function machines with two steps. Towards the end of the week we started to write our own algebra equations.
In English, we have been learning to write our own non-chronological reports based on the Victorian era. Each day, the children added a paragraph based on something that we have been learning about in topic e.g. the workhouses and crime and punishment. I cannot wait to show you all the finishing results.
I was extremely impressed with the children during our topic lesson on Thursday. We started a class debate using the heading 'Are workhouses really that bad?' and the children worked in groups to provide for and against arguments to support their claims. The children used their knowledge of what we have been learning about in English and topic to support their claims. I was very impressed with the children's listening during this activity when they were listening to their peers and the respect that they showed one another.
This week we continued to learn about Florence Nightingale and the significance of her role during the Victorian era. The children created a portrait of Florence and wrote about how things have changed since the Victorian era.
