Elmton Class

Hello and welcome to

Elmton Class!

Foundation Stage 2 and Year 1

BIG welcome to everyone in Elmton Class, I hope you are all ready for a fun and exciting year. Here is the name of the topic for the Autumn term:

Autumn Two – Once upon a time… - Take a journey through some of our greatest stories of all time. From traditional stories involving an extremely hungry wolf to an incredible adventure with a lost stick! What is your favourite story of all time?

Reading Books

For the first couple of weeks reading books will not be given out to the children, as this will allow staff time to prepare reading books and diaries. Books will be changed weekly and returned books will be quarantined for 72 hours before given to another child. Please do not return any reading books that you have at home to school until you are asked to do so.

Homework and Spellings

Similar to reading books, homework and spelling books will be introduced later on in the first autumn term. Homework will be given out to the children on a Friday and the hand in date will be the following Wednesday. Homework will be based on work that the children have been doing in class.

P.E

P.E. lessons will be with Tony on a Wednesday.  You should come to school wearing the appropriate sports clothing for P.E. You do not need to bring your uniform.

Please can I ask for book bags to be left at home until further notice. All equipment needed will be provided by school. You will only need to bring your own lunchbox (If you are not having a school packed lunch) and a drinks bottle.

Again, please feel free to contact me if you or your child has any worries in the next year.

I can't wait to meet you all - we are going to have such a fun year!

Bug club reading - Each child has now been allocated at least two books on their bug club account and we will continue to add to this each week. I have also included lots of fun phonics games for you to play that also links to the phonics we are learning in class.

We will also be listening to your child read in school each week and this could be one of the books they have read at home. I will be able to also log on to bug club and see how many reads you have done for that week. If you have read your book three or more times you will get a stamp on our 'Reading Rangers' bookmark! When six stamps are completed on this your child will receive a certificate and a prize! If you are struggling to access these online books or needing their username/password, please email us and let us know. Happy reading!
