Friday 2nd July

Dear Parents/ Carers

The children have had a great week at school. They have really enjoyed learning about Queen Boudicca and Roman Soldiers. They have designed their own shield, which they will be making next year. I am very impressed with how hard they have worked this week and they should be very proud of themselves.

For their homework task this week, they will need to complete a reading comprehension. Also, please ensure your child is also reading at home 3 times a week, practicing their spellings, using Times Tables Rockstars to practice their times tables and preparing for their Big Write. Homework is due in on Friday 9th July by 4pm. Please email your completed homework to clumber@st-lukes.notts.sch.uk

If you have any problems, please let me know.

Have a lovely weekend,

Miss Earle

Homework - Reading Comprehension

Reading

All the children have been given a reading book to read at home on Monday and to be returned the following Monday. They will get a new book to take home that day. All children should be reading at least 3 times a week.

To record when your child has read, please complete Clumber Class's reading log. This will be checked on a Monday and a message will be sent home congratulating the children who have read at least 3 times.

Please let me know if you have any problems.

Big Write

For Big Write this week, we are going to write the middle and ending to our story which is based in Pompeii. We have already written the introduction at school and have thought about the rest of the story. Please think about the problem that might happen, how they will solve it and how your story will end. Remember to think about the time conjunctions, expanded noun phrases, adverbs, etc that you could use in your story.

Spellings

Please visit the spellings page on Clumber Class’ website dated 'Friday 2nd July' to practice your spellings for a test on Friday 9th July.
