Fun in Maths!

Dear Children and Parents,

Welcome back to Rufford class, I hope you are all looking forward to this next academic year. My name is Miss Tomlinson and I will be Rufford class teacher for the next year. As well as myself, Mrs Green and Miss Denyer will be working with children in our class during the week.

Our first topic will be Travel and Transport where we will learn about the history of transport including trains, boats and cars. We have lots of creative activities planned which I hope the children will enjoy.

As well as Travel and Transport, we will be learning about a wide range of topics this year including Castles, Fairytales and Mythical Creatures, Let’s go to China, Sensational Safari, Great Explorers and Beside the Seaside. Each topic will have a learning overview that will be shared with parents.

PE will be taught on a Wednesday and Friday. Some PE lessons will be outdoors so the children should bring appropriate clothing and footwear to all lessons.

Every Monday I will pick a tree team to take part in ‘show and tell’ where the children are able to bring something in from home to show on a Friday. Please can I ask that children refrain from bringing their toys into school unless they have been asked to do so.

Homework will be given on a Friday and collected on a Wednesday. The homework will be based on what we have been learning that week or researching the next week’s topic. Spellings and Phonic homework will also be given. If you or your child have any queries about the homework please do not hesitate to contact me.

Please read aloud with your child at least three times a week and record this in their diary. Reading books will be changed on a Monday and a Friday and stamps will be given to those children who have read the required amount.
