Starter: Here is this week's arithmetic mini-test. Set yourself a score to beat next week.

Today we are continuing our work on subtracting mixed numbers.

We are going to be subtracting where we have to 'break' the whole.

This means we need to subtract more than the fraction shown in the mixed number and take some from the whole as well.

I would like you to think about the questions below to help you research your non-chronological report.

Remember you will need facts to include and it will need to be organised into sub-headings.

What kind of animal can you see in the photograph?

How is the animal similar/different to a human?

Who are Dylan’s companions, and where have they gone?

Why doesn't Dylan like it when it rains?

What do you think it’s like to live in the rainforest?

How is the weather in a rainforest different to where you live?

What food will Dylan need?
