Good morning everyone, I hope you all had a relaxing and safe Christmas and are feeling OK.
As we are learning online, lessons for English, Maths, GPS and Topic will be posted daily here and wherever possible, videos or recordings will be added to help you.
As before, all completed word can be emailed to our class address: Sheerwood@st-lukes.notts.sch.uk
and each piece I receive will be marked and feedback given through MarvellousMe.
Please email any questions and we will do our best to answer them and help as much as we can.
Hopefully we will all be safe and back together soon.
Keep in touch.
Miss Hunter
Each morning this term, we will be practising our arithmetic skills with a few quick questions. We will have a mini test on a Friday morning to see how much we can remember. Please use the PowerPoint in full screen as it will give you the answers to check how you did after you have finished.
In Maths this week we will be looking at Multiplication. We will start by multiplying 2 and 3 digit numbers by a single digit. This is a recap of work learnt in Year 4 so should be familiar with using the column method for multiplication.
HINT: Remember to multiply the Ones column by the single digit first, then the Tens, then Hundreds.
Please watch the videos and answer the questions on the sheets below. If you cannot access the video there are also PowerPoints attached.

In GPS we will be looking at using Parenthesis to add detail to our writing.
We have discussed this already, remember parenthesis is the name we use to talk about brackets () dashes - or commas , used around extra information in a sentence.
Have a look at this guide and video on BBC bitesize to learn about using Brackets. Try the activity too!
HINT: Remember that the information within the brackets will be a subordinate clause that doesn't makes sense on its own. The sentence should still make sense if you read it without the brackets being included.

Then have a go at this task. There is also a PowerPoint to look at if you need some more help.
Spellings are now available in the usual place on the Class page of the website.
For our GPS lesson each Friday I will ask you to complete your Spelling test with an adult at home.
In English we are going to be writing Egyptian Adventure stories.
Today, Let's introduce ourselves to the topic with this reading comprehension.
In RE lessons this half term we will be looking at the story of Moses.
This may be familiar to you but you may not have heard it for a while.
Please follow this link below to watch the full story.

Once you have watched the film, I would like you to retell the story in your own words.
You may choose to do this however you'd like. You could choose:
- A comic strip, with a picture to accompany each section.
- A piece of writing organised into subheadings.
- A detailed PowerPoint presentation or Microsoft Word typed story.
- A short book with pictures to go with each chapter.
You can choose your own Title and subheadings but you should include:
- The baby in the bulrushes.
- Growing up
- Fleeing Egypt
- The burning bush
- The 10 plagues
- The parting of the Red Sea
- Recieving the 10 commandments.
I am looking forward to seeing how creative you can be!
