Dear Parent/Carer

Transition Days 2022

A polite reminder regarding the arrangements for our transition days next week. 

Please note the change for students to arrive in their Primary PE kit, due to some groups having the opportunity to take part in PE lessons.

Prior to starting in September, we will be holding 2 transition days for the 2022/23 cohort. These will take place on Wednesday 6th and Thursday 7th July. We would like your child to experience a typical day at the academy and take part in a variety of learning experiences whilst familiarising themselves with the environment..

We ask that you ensure that your child arrives at Outwood Academy Valley for 8.15am via the student entrances on Valley Road on each of the days and they will be dismissed at 2.25pm via student exits. During the transition event, your child must wear their normal primary school PE Kit, and bring their refillable water bottle and pencil case. 

If for any reason your child is unable to leave the academy on their own, please inform us via this google form.  We will then make the necessary adjustments to support your child in being collected at 2.25pm from the corridor connecting the leisure centre to the main building.  If we don’t receive this information we will accept that they are to be dismissed from the academy at 2:25pm independently.

We will provide your child with a complimentary school lunch on both days. Alternatively, your child may also bring their own packed lunch, especially if your child has dietary requirements, of which you can make us aware on the google form.

In addition, on Wednesday 6th July, the academy doors open to year 6 children and their families between 4:00pm – 7:00pm for what promises to be a fun packed evening.  Staff will be showcasing their subjects and giving you a taster of what they can expect when your child joins the academy.  Members of The Senior Leadership Team will be on hand all evening to answer any questions you may have.  There will be a presentation by the Principal, Mr Cavill in the main hall which will be repeated at 5.00pm and 6.00pm.

Transition from primary to secondary school is a very important time in any child’s life and we want to ensure that the transition for your child is as smooth as possible.  If you have any queries or concerns regarding the process please do not hesitate to contact me via enquiries@valley.outwood.com.

Data collection forms to be completed by Friday 13th May.

Uniform bundles must be ordered by Sunday 22nd May. 

The transition days for Valley are the 6th and 7th July 2022.
